Faux Cu Two Results

64 players competed in the chess tournament held in Hendersonville, NC, on Monday, January 17, 2000.  Each player played six games at a time control of game in 30 minutes.

Klaus Pohl of Greenville, SC won the Open section with a score of 5.5 of 6.0.  He played 6 of the 7 players rated immediately below him in the rankings.
Neal Harris finished second in the Open section with a score of 5.0 of 6.0 with no losses.  His 2 draws came against top seed Klaus Pohl and Michael Buaiz.

Joshua Jamieson of Columbia, SC, in his first tournament performance, scored a perfect 6 out of 6 in the lower section open to players rated under 1200.  Marc Marino, Mason Smith, and David Fisher tied for second place with 5 points each.

The greatest upset in the Open section went to 981-rated Vincent Marino who defeated 1377-rated Veselin Nikolov.
The greatest upset in the Under 1200 section went to 751-rated Stephen Bloemsma who defeated Peter Suich with a provisional rating of 1139.
