On August 7, 1999, four players from the Hendersonville, North Carolina, area played a team match against four international players who were employed at Blue Star Camps for the summer. Chuck Palmer, Kevin Hyde, Nathan Lyda, and James Hyde played against Pavel Hlavacek of the Czech Republic, Viktor Racz of Hungary, Ivan Dimitrov of Bulgaria, and Cameron Fraser of Scotland.

It was a very friendly match played in the library at the camp.  The end result of the match was a tie.  Both teams scored 1 win, 2 draws, and 1 loss.
